Conventional masks use electrostatic-assisted melt-blown nonwoven fabric as its filtration medium. While the fabric is broadly used as air filter media as a result of its high filtration efficiency, once the fabric comes in contact with humidity or moisture, it loses its ability to hold the static charges well and so the filtration efficiency starts to drop.
ePTFE membrane masks use high-end industrial grade HEPA material - ePTFE(expanded polytetrafluoroethylene) membrane as the filter medium, a highly porous material made up of over 8 billion 0.2 micron pores stacked closely together. As the membrane does not rely on the electrostatic charges to achieve its high filtration efficiency, its performance level stays brilliant regardless of the environment.
Achieved through continuous innovation, research and development at Airllo, the membrane demonstrates high filtration efficiency despite having a thickness of only 500nm, making our masks ultra light, highly breathable and comfortable to wear.
